State of Origin nights fill Suncorp Stadium and the pubs along Caxton Street. Arrange your pickup a few blocks from the ground rather than at the gate: you'll be moving well before the traffic around Milton clears.
The Queensland Winter Racing Carnival brings the biggest crowds to Eagle Farm and Doomben through late autumn and early winter. And for the Gold Coast, a one-way transfer is often simpler than a hire car, at about an hour down the M1 outside peak times.
